We are delighted to be able to share with you an interview with none other than Jocelyn Casdorph who has been a pioneer in the industry for over 15 years. Then there are the rising stars of the future such as Nikki Shelley – her art spread like wild fire when she got up the courage to share it on social media.
Our feature on the new TV series Skin Wars shows just how mainstream face and body painting is becoming. And the industry is constantly looking for new styles of painting and new products that will push artists to expand their skills further – and of course we’ve got plenty of original ideas and glittering goodies that will help you do just that. Take a look at:
Jocelyn Casdorph. This artist is face and body painting royalty. She started her pioneering career at none other than Enjoy Your Face with Nick and Brian Wolfe, Jay Bautista and Chris Davis before anyone even knew who they were. Her interview is packed full of ideas of how to succeed in the industry.
Olga Gila. Our impressive cover artist creates the whole package. Not only does she paint colourful and precise designs, she also makes complex headdresses, necklaces and corsets to complement them. The combination of make-up and decoration makes for some truly stunning images.
Nikki Shelley. Be prepared to be scared! Nikki’s designs are truly gruesome and remarkably realistic. People often can’t believe that her designs are simply paint and not made with prosthetics.
Angela Youngs. With her actor husband, Angela runs a successful theatre company, so it’s no surprise that her designs are full of drama. The story behind her artwork is both fascinating and emotional.
Then you’ll be chuckling at Suzanne Mykolojenko’s take on painting jams, blown away by 15-year-old Rachel Madison’s talent and itching to pick up a bucket and have a go at clay modelling after you’ve seen Syl Verberk’s tutorial.
And that’s before you’ve even got to all the regular contributions. From Sophia Leadhill Taylor’s technical tips on curls, swirls and teardrops to Craig Tracy’s backstage expose of Skin Wars – there’s plenty to brighten up your winter. This issue feels like all our Christmas presents wrapped up in one glossy colourful parcel!
